SMS Check and Reserve
Check Stock Availability and Reserve Product
SMS Check and Reserve allows customers to check stock availability for any product and if desired to subsequently reserve an item for later collection. Where an product is not in stock it can be ordered with the customer advised when it becomes available for collection.
Products can be set aside by Check and Reserve for a fixed period and be returned to the stock quota if the purchase doesn't eventuate.
As the SMS messages are charged at the standard rate, and with the convenience provided, customers are happy to use the system.
Store Catalogues
The Check and Reserve system has proved very successful for Argos with reports of a dramatic uptake in use by customers.

An ideal scenario for SMS Check and Reserve use is with a store catalogue which can include product codes which the customer can incorporate into their enquiry SMS.
For example:
| Following instructions in the product catalogue the customer sends an SMS including the catalogue number and the store name to a mobile short code number e.g. M112233GH Manly to 19XXXX | |
| Check and Reserve responds with item availability and price, plus the option to reserve | |
| Customer replies requesting the product be reserved | |
| Where the item is unavailable, the customer can either order, or ask to be notified when the product is available | |
| Check and Reserve sends the customer a reservation number to be used when collecting the product following payment |
